This is our only swamp tour that guarantees every guest on board will hold a live baby alligator, and our only swamp tour booked as a flat-rate private charter. The whole covered boat is yours, with room for up to 6 guests, on the Honey Island Swamp about an hour north of the French Quarter. Where most swamp tours out of New Orleans run 45 to 70 passenger pontoons and airboats, this is a small, intimate experience led by a captain who holds a state alligator exhibitor's license. That permit is what turns the baby gator hold into a guarantee instead of a maybe.
Glide under the cypress canopy of one of the least-altered river swamps in America while your captain tells you the stories that made this stretch of water famous. Somewhere along the way, you'll cradle a live baby alligator in your own hands and take home a printed souvenir photo that comes with the tour. If your captain's in a talkative mood, you might also hear why locals still trade stories about the Honey Island Swamp Monster and what a retired air traffic controller claimed to find out here back in the '60s. The boat runs a full 90 minutes on the water, with time on either side for the educational presentation and photo op.
If you've ever wanted to hold a baby alligator and come home with proof, this is the tour. Bring your group, drive out to meet the captain at Pearl River, and spend an hour and a half on the water in a boat built for 6 instead of 60. Your boat. Your captain. Your guaranteed gator.
