  • Duration: 6 Hours (approx.)

The Landscape

Journey through Oak Alley's complex past and changing landscape as you walk down its iconic alley of 300-year-old live oak trees. You'll have the chance to visit the plantation's slavery exhibit and learn about the lives and living conditions of enslaved people who worked there.

The Big House

Check out the "Big House," a symbol of power and wealth, on a guided tour revealing the luxurious life of the slave-owning class. Gain an understanding of the mansion's history and the complicated reality not shown in movies like "Gone With the Wind." Let your guide know if you or someone in your group can't climb stairs. An iPad is available for guests with mobility issues to view the 2nd floor.

Exhibits and Cafe

There are also exhibits about blacksmithing, sugarcane production (the chief economic driver of the plantation), and several gardens to explore. You can also use your time to visit Oak Alley's cafe and restaurant, serving classic Southern cooking, or its gift shop.
